I supervise an Educational Media company I call "Smart Trax Media". I write & produce songs with positive messages for middle school age children, performed by high school age students, all over America, from the HSBC Arena to Disney to the Pentagon. I recently received a unique award from the United States Department of Justice, at the national headquarters for the Drug Enforcement Administration, in front of the Pentagon. The music video was recently entered into the 9/11 Memorial National Registry and I received a letter from the Firs Lady in the White House and from Mayor Bloomberg after this occurred. More... A record to be announced on 9/11/11 to be released on 11/11/11 at 11/11 AM on itunes, about college age veterans on Veterans Day 2011, mostly because of 9/11 and all proceeds will go to the creation of a scholarship fund for college age veterans! HISTORY In 1993, I wrote lyrics to what became a song recorded by my 3 nephews in West Seneca, NY (Buffalo) titled "Earthquake". It was about the first World Trade Center Bombing. I was teaching a class at NYU that afternoon. When I came home to my studio in Jersey City (35th floor, top of a building... an artistic grant in 1991), the World Trade Center was not illuminated, the electricity was turned off, and I could not see it in the sky out my bedroom window. It was very eerie. In 1995 I recorded the song and it made it to the White House. First Lady Clinton was seeking artistic creations by teens related to their views on terrorism at the time. President Clinton sent me a kind response letter. On 9/4 01, DARE America, in LA accepted my idea to make a CD to give to the 26 Million 5th graders in DARE as a "graduation" award that season. They chose Manny & Joy Medina (MJ) to be the artists and we had 9 songs from my catalog approved. They asked for one more for a round number of "10". I read the lyrics to "Earthquake" and they said it was perfect. When could I record it. My calendar was free on 9/11/01 Very Eerie! At 7am on 9/1/01 I started re-loading the digital audio files into my SkyRoom studio (in Jersey City, across from the World Trade Center) for a 3 PM session. I got a call from my Dad in Buffalo, telling me that my aunt just died, and I needed to make plans to return to Buffalo for the funeral. Suddenly I head the first "Plane Bomb" hit!.... the rest is horrible history. I flipped when I realized that I just loaded a song to re-record in my studio about the first bombing. WHAT ARE THE ODDS? One in a Zillion? I turned the song on, turned on my video camera, and I sang it with anger and much confusion as the first tower started to collapse in my background. Military were all around my condo (seen in the opening of the video as I walked my dog) because I am right next to the air intake for the Holland Tunnel, a target. I could not leave. I wrote the words to "Brave New American Heroes" between the two towers collapsing!
